Exam Structure
Paper 1: Intelligence / IQ Test
Tests brain power with questions on patterns, puzzles, number sequences, and logical thinking. Requires quick thinking and problem-solving skills.

Paper 2: Subject Knowledge
Tests First Language (Sinhala/Tamil), English, Mathematics, Environment Studies, and includes a short essay writing section.

Note: To win a scholarship or change school, students need very high marks. The cut-off marks change every year based on performance.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grade : Students currently studying in Grade 5
- School Type : Government schools or approved private schools
- Medium : Open for both Sinhala medium and Tamil medium students
- Age : As per Department of Examinations guidelines

- Recent Passport Size Photographs
- Parent/Guardian NIC or ID Proof
- Income Certificate (if applying for bursary)
How To Apply
- 1. Applications are open now from 30th March 2026.
- 2. Your school will fill the online application form on your behalf.
- 3. Visit the official portal: https://onlineexams.gov.lk
- 4. After filling, the school will print the form and send it to the Department of Examinations.
- 5. If you have any doubts, contact your class teacher or principal for assistance.
- 6. Last date to apply is 30th April 2026 (midnight).
Preparation Tips
- Study your Grade 5 books well – especially Language, Maths, and Environment.
- Practice past exam papers every week from online sources or your teacher.
- Solve lots of IQ questions (puzzles, number patterns, picture questions).
- Read English stories and improve your writing skills.
